Before you start

Before your first duel, remember that nothing happens until you fire. Because players take turns, the game is about getting each shot right rather than shooting first. Use the first rounds to learn how the arc of a shot responds to small changes in aim, and pay attention to the ground between the tanks, because hills and dips decide which shots are possible. When playing with a friend, it helps to agree on house rules, such as which weapons are allowed, before starting.

How it plays

Two tanks face each other across uneven ground. Players take turns: on your turn you adjust your aim, then fire, and the shot follows an arc across the terrain towards your opponent.

Precision decides the match. A slightly wrong angle sends a shell into a hill or over the target, and one bad shot can hand the round to your opponent.

Poki’s description lists a large arsenal, including missiles, nuclear weapons, railguns and plasma guns. Different weapons behave differently, so choosing the right one for the distance and terrain is part of the strategy.

Winning earns money that is spent on stronger firepower. You can play online or offline with friends, which makes it a good game for taking turns on the same device.

Tips for a first session

  1. After each shot, note where it landed and change one thing: the angle or the power, not both.
  2. Use terrain as cover; a hill between you and the opponent forces a higher, harder shot.
  3. Match the weapon to the distance instead of always using the strongest one.
  4. Think each shot through; in a turn-based duel, accuracy matters more than speed.
  5. When playing with a friend, agree on turns so both players can think through their shots.

Who it suits

It suits patient players and friends who enjoy taking turns. The theme is tank combat with cartoon-style weapons and explosions.
